Red deer stag — Clashindarroch Forest
Photograph courtesy of David Sutherland, Aberchirder. Dave as a Forest Wildlife Ranger was responsible for controlling the deer in Clashindarroch Forest, then part of Buchan Forest District.
This twelve pointer was one of the red deer beginning to arrive in larger numbers from the surrounding open hill ground at the time, trying to become established in the forest and cause severe browsing damage to the young trees in the replanting of the felled areas.
