Senior Strathyre Bothy Boys 1954-56
Photograph courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont who worked in Strathyre Forest as an apprentice Forest Craftsman.
This image is taken from a card on which appears to celebrate the 1954 intake of young men or boys for the two year skilled forest worker apprenticeship training at Strathyre Forest. The card names the two people in the image as Gordon Watson (Curly) on the left and Kerr Robertson (Alfie) on the right. They are throwing sawmill off cuts into the wood shed as a stockpile for the wood fires in each of the huts.
Any more details and stories from former ‘bothy boys’ would be very welcome.
