New Planting at Cloich Forest

The photographs are courtesy of Stuart Mitchell, Peebles area, who formerly worked at Glentress Forest.

Ian Smart planting Sitka spruce in the ploughed ground in Cloich or Cloich Hills Forest. The rolling grass covered hills are certainly ideal conditions for the species. Ian is using an old fashioned Schlich spade to make the notches in the ploughing and looking at the current aerial maps a well stocked forest was created. Some felling coupes have just recently been felled.
