Glentress students Fancy Dress Peebles Gala 1949

The photograph is courtesy of Shona Marshall and features one from the collection of her late father, Alex Grossert. Alex was a forestry student at Glentress Forester Training school from 1948-1950 and is seen here as ‘Joe’, one of the Broons family, and standing at the very back right of the group.

This fancy dress parade most likely for the Peebles Gala is featured previously on the web site but the characters are not as closely seen as here. The forestry students have done well to acquire the wigs, beards and dresses with those playing Horace, Hen, Paw, Joe and Grandpaw really looking the part!

Any suggestions as to who the students are playing which characters would be very welcome.
