Super Low ground pressure Komatsu 895 Forwarder

Photographs by Colin Smith, Ord Brae, Huntly who noted the special forwarder owned and operated by Drew Graham Contracting Ltd (DGC Tree), Milngavie, on site at the Cabrach end of Clashindarroch Forest. The machine was extracting Lodgepole pine from the very soft area know as Moss of Essie ploughed by Bert Legge in 1952 (See Picture No 2197).

Any details of the forwarder on total weight, load size, track widths and ground pressures would be very welcome.

The PDF shows other views of the machine.

1500mm grousers, two 750 mm excavator pads welded together, welds kept snapping, 20 tons in the tracks alone , this put immense strain on drivetrain, new pump, trans and half shafts were replaced. 20 ton payload in theory however this was too much for the above to handle and ran 60% loaded usually.
