Challenger 33 and Twin Furrow plough

Forestry Commission copyright image of Forest Research photographs courtesy of Glenn Brearley, Roslin. B6596

It was only with closer examination of the images that it was seen that this tractor is pulling a twin furrow plough. The plough heads are mounted on either side of the single beam on outriggers quite some distance from the beam centre and thus designed for spaced ploughing as opposed to complete ploughing. It is difficult to see the plough furrow spacing but it must be not more than about 5 feet.

Location or year has not been identified but registration of tractor is YYR991H placing the period as the early 70s.
