Dornoch Forest – Fourpenny Wood

Maps courtesy of North Highland Forest District, Golspie.

The title of Cambusmore (See PDF) most likely reflects the owning estate before purchase. This wood was planted in 1962 and again is mainly Scots pine with small additions of Sitka spruce. The compartment numbers run from 84 to 92 and precede those of the back of Harriet Wood.

Unsure of the purpose of the hand written figures in pencil which run along one of the main rides but could refer to bags of fertiliser or even culvert sizes when a road line was being planned.
